Sometimes the moments that feel the hardest while you're living through them become the moments you appreciate most later in life.

In Episode 02 of The Journey, Wendell Bennett shares the story of arriving at military school in the United States after growing up in Aruba. School had already started, hundreds of cadets were marching in uniform, and Wendell immediately stood out as the new student.

While waiting to be fitted for his uniforms, he spent his first week wearing bright gray sweats. In a school where everyone else was in uniform, there was no hiding the fact that he was the new guy.

But the most difficult moment came when his father, who had brought him from Aruba to the United States, told him it was time for him to leave.

Before returning home, his father told him something Wendell would never forget: this was his last chance to make something of himself.

At the time, those words carried enormous weight. Looking back, Wendell sees that decision very differently. What once felt like one of the hardest moments of his young life became one of the decisions that helped shape his discipline, independence, resilience, and future.
